On a warm, partly cloudy afternoon (75°F, dewpoint 52°) at Peterswood Park, the North Allegheny Tigers squared off against the Peters Township Indians and the Avonworth Antelopes on a hilly and demanding course. Both Tiger squads showed their depth and front-running strength, earning decisive dual-meet victories.
Boys’ Race
The Tigers wasted no time taking control, sweeping the first four places. Senior Andrew Peigh led the charge with a winning time of 17:29, followed closely by freshman Gatik Hirwani (17:32), junior Wyatt Case (17:45), and freshman Colin Clarkson (18:25). Sophomore Sam Patterson added key depth in 6th (18:33), while senior Jack Curren (8th, 18:53) and sophomore Denny Smith (9th, 18:55) gave NA seven of the top nine finishers. North Allegheny defeated Peters Township 16–45 and Avonworth 15–50 (perfect score).
Girls’ Race
Freshman Samantha Strelick stole the spotlight in the girls’ race, pulling away to win convincingly in 19:55. Junior Gabby Pizon (3rd, 21:51), sophomore Lydia Stuart (4th, 22:27), and freshman Elizabeth Richmond (5th, 22:36) kept the Tigers in command up front. Behind them, juniors Abby Gordish (7th, 23:01) and Juliet Forrest (8th, 23:03), along with senior Elinor Handel (9th, 23:15), formed a tight pack that sealed the win. North Allegheny topped Peters Township 20–41 and Avonworth 15–50.
The Tigers return to action this Saturday at White Oak Park for the Red, White & Blue Invitational.
