North Allegheny cross country teams travelled west to compete in the annual Spartan Invitational in Boardman, Ohio. The boys ran very well earning first place in the 37 team division 1 field. Senior Jack Bertram was outstanding and took first place. The girls battled hard in a close race to earn bronze out of 31 D1 teams, 20 points away from the gold.
In the boys race, senior Jack Bertram had a phenomenal race, out dueling a Boardman senior to win by one tenth of a second. Junior Andrew Peigh was next up with an outstanding race and strong finish to grab 7th overall. Seniors Anthony Miklos, Tyler Davis, Greg Abel all had great races to solidify the win, placing 21st, 26th and 34th respectively. Senior Jackson Beemer was excellent in 45th, displacing scoring athletes from every single team. Senior Grey Lowman rounded out the top 7 for the tigers in 68th.
In the girls race, it was senior Robin Kucler who led the tigers with strong performance and 7th place finish. Senior Kendall Lucas was terrific with a lifetime PR, grabbing 15th overall. Fellow senior Elizabeth Pizon had a great race, finishing right behind Kendall in 16th. Senior Camille Swirsding was next up breaking the 20 minute barrier for the 5k (19:59) with 19th place finish. Junior Tess Pagnotto was outstanding, passing many athletes in the final mile to take 26th place overall. Freshman Lydia Stuart and sophomore Gabby Pizon were both great to round out the top 7 (45th and 47th).

Both teams will look to keep their undefeated dual meet season active this Tuesday at Pine Richland as they compete against Central Catholic, Oakland Cathoic, and Pine Richland.
